Destroying The Temple

Acts 6:8-15 “...This man never stops saying things against this holy place and the law. For we have heard him claim that this Jesus the Nazorean will destroy this place and change the customs that Moses handed down to us.”
The Israelites devoted a great deal of time and effort to building and maintaining the Temple. By Jesus' words, and the words of His disciples, He seemed to be threatening its destruction. This understandably disturbed them. And so it is for me as I seek to destroy, through my words, which are hopefully guided by the Holy Spirit, the temples our culture has built, through my writing on this blog and my, hopefully, soon-to-be-published autobiography, Becoming A Good Man.
The temple of pleasure is the temple we worship in. Selfish pleasure. Casual sex, contraception, abortion, euthanasia, homosexuality, drug and alcohol use and abuse, gambling, shopping, gluttony, and mindless degrading entertainment. The list goes on and on. People worship at this temple hourly and do not want to be disturbed. Jesus calls us to be disturbers of our own peace and theirs. He calls us not just to reject these false gods but to destroy them and leave no trace.
The culture will not tolerate this. It will push back in whatever ways it can. We must be willing to suffer. Let them crucify us, stone us, imprison us, or inflict whatever other sufferings they can come up with. They will be offended. They will see us as the attackers of their gods that we are, and they will defend their temple at any cost.
Catechism of the Catholic Church pg. 2 “...Our duty is to dedicate ourselves with an earnest will and without fear to that work which our era demands of us...”
