Feed Me Poison

The world sees that we hunger, as does our Lord, who gives us the gift of hunger. And both our Lord Jesus and our eternal enemy, satan, desperately desire to feed us. One out of compassion and love, the other out of disgust and hatred for us. Each of their foods is an acquired taste. One that is developed at a young age and is refined throughout life.

Many poisons used to be easily recognized by our spiritual tastebuds as poison, but many no longer are because our parents, and their parents before them, have been ingesting poison for so long that the poison now seems like a good. If not good, then no big deal.  These poisons are now hidden along with those that have always been difficult to discern, making the world a much more dangerous place for us spiritual beings. Those of us with better-developed taste buds must warn the majority despite their resistance to our warnings.

Our spiritual tastebuds are programmable, and our Creator intended for them to be programmed with His words and ways. But from the beginning, sadly, they are not in many cases. What we are fed as children impacts our spiritual taste buds and what is palatable to us. If we are fed only the food of the world, then we may experience the taste of the things of Christ as bitter and unpleasant. If we are fed only the things of Christ, then we may experience the taste of the things of this world as bitter. Sadly, most children are either not exposed to the food of Christ and His Church or are exposed to a counterfeit version of it that leaves a bitter taste in their mouth that they only find is neutralized by worldly food. This is often because the churches these children are raised in are practicing deficient or false forms of the true Catholic faith.

If we are given vitamins as children versus real food, we will still receive some of the nutrients we need, but not in the way our bodies need to truly develop as they are designed to. So with the food of Christ. The Holy Catholic Church alone holds all the nutrients necessary for true spiritual development, and those nutrients are ideally passed to the child through the milk and food that only parents provide in the beginning. If the parents lack these nutrients, their child will also lack them and grow up with the same weak or false faith that their parents practice. Their taste buds will not develop properly, and the food of this world will appeal to them more than it should. These children will more easily end up eating food that appeals to them from the world and draws them away from Christ and His true Church.

So parents have a responsibility to make sure that they are receiving proper spiritual nutrition and developing their spiritual tastebuds, or they are likely to have children who are as spiritually malnourished as they are. The nourishment and taste bud development provided through the Mass, the Eucharist, the Sacraments, the traditions of the Church, and Scripture are not, in general, absorbed and developed by the children of parents who are not regularly ingesting this food themselves. Dropping kids off at CCD and heading home to nourish yourselves on entertainment, house cleaning, work, and other empty foods leads children to do the same.  This is poison to the spirit of both parent and child alike.

Taste buds do not develop in the right direction on their own. They must be directed. satan is happy to direct them when parents do not allow the Lord to do so. Transgenderism, gay marriage, critical race theory, planet worship, socialism, and atheism are all poison to young and old alike. Parents who ingest this poison poison the minds of their children. Tastebuds are malformed and so seek out other poisons to ingest rather than the good that brings true life. Jesus' Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity are found only in the Eucharist, which is found only in the holy Catholic Church. Those of us blessed to receive Him daily must point out the poison the spirit of this world is feeding people, even if they refuse to take steps to retrain their taste buds. They will hate us because of Him, as they hated Him before us. This must not deter us. It did not deter Him who hung on the Cross for us. He refused the poison and suffered because of it. So shall we. Thanks be to God.
