The Cluttered Path

Intimacy is what the Lord wants for us. Intimacy that can only be had through the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. In our weariness in the war for truth, we deny the many “few” who seek Him the true intimacy required to spend eternity with Him. This is the price of our leaders' weariness, and so of our own resulting weariness. We retreat from the battlefield of truth and so allow error to enter onto the path that leads to eternal life with Christ.

The path used to be clear, though many wanted nothing to do with it or Him whom it leads to. But now the path has become littered with lies and deceptions. And the longer we pretend that they are just differences, not lies and deceptions, the thicker and higher the barriers and walls become until we who know better no longer know better.

Is mortal sin and the deadly impact it has on our souls real? Is there a way to deal with that before death? Does it really matter if we confess directly to Jesus or to a priest?  Is the Eucharist the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Christ? Is it, as the Catechism teaches, necessary for salvation? Are there multiple ways to eternal life with God or only one?  Did Christ build a Church or churches? Do these things matter? If yes, why are we silent about them? If not, why are we Catholic? Why do we bother with them?

These questions must be answered by our present leaders, who, hopefully, in their answers, have looked back to the historical teachings of Christ's Church. By looking back at what the Church has always taught based on the teaching of Christ. These truths do not change, and we must not grow weary in pronouncing them as the Good News they are and standing and fighting for them.

If we do not stand and fight for the truth. If we do not stand and fight for the salvation we know comes through believing in and living out these truths, then we, as a Church, have lost. We are no longer on mission.
